In a typical asana practice, we stretch our hamstrings a lot. The opposing muscle group, our quadriceps, don’t receive nearly as much stretchy love. Many of us yogis would benefit a whole lot from stretching our quads and strengthening our hammies more.
This is my favourite quad stretch. You’ll need a wall and a blanket or cushion, and get ready to hear your quads shout at you! You might initially think they’re saying something like “Get us out of here; this sucks!” but as you listen for a little longer you’ll realise it’s more like “Why haven’t you been doing this every day?? We need more!”
